How to choose a good wool quilt?
Wool fibers have good crimp characteristics. Therefore, the insulation of wool is beyond doubt. The wool has good drape, so it fits well. The advantage of wool quilt is that it is close to the body and comfortable. Wool is an important raw material for the textile industry. It has the advantages of good elasticity, strong moisture absorption, and good warmth retention. However, due to the high price, it is not used much for the production of non-woven fabrics.
1. Look at the color of wool. The snowy white is not the better. The wool of the authentic Australian 9-month lamb is off-white. If it is too white, it means that the original quality of the wool is not very good. There are many decontamination and impurity removal procedures, which may damage the surface protein.
2. It depends on the fiber thickness. Generally, wool with a length of 2 to 3 inches and a fineness of 28 to 32 microns is the most suitable for making woolen quilts. Too thin or too thick is not good. Has good color and resilience.
3. Look at the wrapping cloth. The outer cloth must not be coated. In this way, it is very likely that the grease rate of the inner wool and the removal of impurities are not enough, and the outer layer is used to prevent extravasation.
Smell the fleece quilt. The wool that has been carbonized, washed, and carded will not have any peculiar smell, including mutton smell.
Feel the softness of the cloth. If the quilt is hard or brittle, the fabric may be sponged or coated. Such quilts have poor comfort and may exceed the standard of formaldehyde.
