Hospital linen cleaning instructions
Soiled or infected sheets should be washed at 65 degrees for at least 10 minutes, or at 71 degrees for at least 3 minutes. Hypochlorite can be used to disinfect linen, if they can withstand it.
In the community environment, professional washing services are not available, and contaminated bed sheets should be washed with detergent at a temperature of at least 800 degrees. They can be cold dry cleaned and steam pressed, but in general, all linens should be washed at the highest temperature available.
Microfiber bed sheets can be washed in ordinary machines, and because they are thin, they dry faster than standard hospital bed sheets. Because they are very tightly woven, they are also more durable and can be washed and dried more frequently. The microfiber sheet will also reduce tearing and maintain a better shape over time.
